Asian Sourcing Position
Houdini Inc. is one of the leading providers of gourmet gifts in the United States. We are looking for an Asian Sourcing Specialist. This position will be responsible for the Asian sourcing throughout China.
He or she will be responsible for sourcing new items and new factories in the reusable items category.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
• Previous sourcing history is a MUST!
• Develop and maintain a high-performance culture, resulting in continued success meeting improved levels of product development and factory sourcing.
• Develop and maintain strong business relationships within our industry in an effort to continually strengthen and develop the company’s vendor base and expand the supplier network to create short-term and long-term value for Houdini.
• Liaise with counterparts in other functional areas such as Purchasing, Design, and Product Development personnel to ensure alignment of activities and objectives.
• Help assist departments in identifying goods most appropriate to their needs.
• Identify vendor opportunities and challenges and ensure appropriate resolution to any challenges that may arise.
• Proactively participate in the vendor approval process in conjunction with the Compliance and the Quality Assurance departments to qualify new vendors in order to provide optimum protection of the company’s assets with commercially sound contracts
• This position will require extensive traveling to the numerous trade shows and fairs throughout China and Hong Kong.
Knowledge/Skills/Education/Experience:
• College degree is preferred with relevant field of study preferred
• 7+ years relevant sourcing experience preferably in manufacturing and product development
• Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language
• Inquisitive, detail-oriented with strong quantitative analytical skills and an innovative approach to problem solving
• Excellent MS Office (Excel, MSQuery, Access, PowerPoint) capabilities required
